In the note shared by Nyakundi on his massively followed Telegram channel, the lawyers demand that he immediately pulls down two articles published on his blog on the 5th and 6th of May 2020 in which they claim that the influential writer made “malicious allegations” against Standard Media Group CEO Orlando Lyomu which has, in turn, damaged the reputation and image of the long-standing media house. In the first story titled “INDEPTH: The Rot Inside Standard Media Group”, blogger Nyakundi through an unnamed insider’s account revealed some of the hidden ills which he says are behind the respected institution’s downfall.
Mismanagement, abuse of funds, and sexual scandals at the Standard Media Group were some of the areas the anonymous staffer touched on.
The second piece “Covid-19 Impact: Standard Media Group to sack 173”, reports how multiple strategic blunders by Group CEO Orlando Lyomu combined with the Coronavirus pandemic have seen the company send home close to 200 employees.
Issuing a 24-hour ultimatum, the solicitors have also instructed Nyakundi to write and publish an apology failure to which they threaten to take further legal action against the self-proclaimed BoyChild President.
For blogger Nyakundi, it’s another addition to his pile of cases in court.
Since his famous debut suit against telecommunications giants Safaricom in 2017, he has over time been taken to court for defamation by various corporates and politicians who often don’t fancy some of the information he puts to light.
The blogger has many times spoken out over the harassment and intimidation brought forth by his strong passion for advocacy and truth, but still courageously soldiers on.
