Kenya Population and Housing Census fever is undoubtedly sweeping across the country barely 24 hours before the decennial exercise kicks off on the night of Saturday, August 24.
Social media is awash with video of a middle-aged man who apparently conducted his own population count in the streets of Nairobi on the morning of Friday, August 23.
The unidentified man was the centre of attraction in the city central business district where he commandeered matatus termini and did head count of each pedestrian and passenger.
Clad in black buttoned up coat and white soft khaki trouser, the fellow went about his unusual business regardless of the heavy human traffic and keen eyes of the bewildered onlookers.
“I don’t want anyone to distract me. Census has kicked off and please, allow to take head count,” he shouted.
Interestingly, he seemed to be counting women only!

The exercise begins at exactly 6pm on Saturday, August 24, and will end on August 31 considering everyone may not be counted on the first night.
