Wasafi TV suspended for six month by the Tanzania Communication Regulatory Authority (TCRA) for allegedly violating broadcast regulations during the Tumewasha festival.
Speaking at a news conference in Dar es Salaam, TCRA’s acting director Johannes Kalungule said that the offence was committed on January 1 when the station aired singer Gigy Money dancing almost nude at the Tumewasha festival.
Kalunge said that the move contravened broadcast regulations and that the station was ordered off air and instructed to issue a public apology.
He further said that, should the station fail to observe the directive, further legal measures will be taken against the station.
According to him the two parties had met before the decision was arrived at.
In September 2020, sister station Wasafi FM was banned for seven days for violating of Communication regulations and airing offensive content.
