To many people, a wedding day celebration is the happiest day they can remember. Generally, on this special day, family and friends make a big fuss over the bride and the groom as they join them in celebrating the momentous occasion.
Unfortunately, the day turned out to have an ugly ending for a family riding in a probox after attending a wedding party at a city hotel. As they were heading home, they entered Thika superhighway when a speeding Toyota harrier rammed the vehicle carrying five family members at the back.
What resulted was a gory accident that turned the day of joy into a day of pain and gloom. One passenger, identified as Dave died on the spot leaving two other seriously injured. Another passenger identified as Kelvin succumbed to his injuries while being rushed to Kenyatta National Hospital.
It is reported that the driver of the harrier was highly intoxicated and could barely speak or stand. According to a statement recorded at Pangani police station, the driver Alex Mucheru, who is said to be working as a senior public health official was arrested and detained at Pangani police station.
The family has however expressed their concerns after Alex Mucheru was allegedly released from Pangani police station today.
The family wants all relevant authorities to intervene and justice be served for the said driver who caused the death of their loved ones.
