Flamboyant city politician Steve Mbogo has mourned the death of Nairobi businessman Kevin Omwenga who was shot dead at his Kilimani house.
Taking to social media, Mbogo confessed that he still does not believe Omwenga is no more.
“I still can’t believe you are gone bro… Gone too soon Kevin Omwenga. You were amongst the few real gentlemen I know bro… Will forever live in us. Shine on your way brother, RIP,” he captioned a photo on Instagram.
Apart from selling cars at a yard in the city, Omwenga was also linked to the gold business.
The suspected shooter, Robert Ouko is said to have been working as a driver and bodyguard to Omwenga’s business associate Chris Obure.
According to police, Omwenga and the suspect had an argument in the bedroom before the sound of a gunshot was heard.
Chris Obure and Robert Ouko have been arrested in connection to the murder.
Ouko said the shooting was accidental after the gun accidentally went off.
According to Citizen TV, Ouko told the police that he shot Omwenga accidentally, refuting claims that there was an altercation between him and the deceased.
He said that they were good friends and the fateful night when the incident happened, they were together at an entertainment joint in Kilimani before they went to Ngara, to pick a Tanzanian lady, who was captured on CCTV cameras with Omwenga entering his house.
He alleged that Omwenga borrowed his gun for ‘show-off purposes’ and when he was about to leave, he called him to the bedroom. He left a few friends who were partying in the living room to talk to him.
