Embattled Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko looks to have finally put the old saying “If you can’t beat them, join them” into practise and officially joined the dynasties in dancing to the BBI tune.
The embattled former Senator has re-branded all vehicles including trucks and water tankers with BBI colors, with huge posters of President Uhuru Kenyatta and his “deputy” Raila Odinga.
Sonko, who is currently suspended from transacting any official business on behalf of Nairobi County as Governor, has been in hot soup over multiple corruption scandals that recently landed him behind bars and away from office.
This latest move by a man whose woes were blamed on his allegiance to Jubilee Party’s Deputy Leader William Ruto, has been interpreted as a way to show he fully supports the BBI initiative.

Separately, Sonko had attempted to leave the country for the UAE, but a court denied him travel documents.
Through his legal team, he had made an application asking for the release of all his travel documents with the excuse being an “official” visit to Dubai.
The lawyers claimed that Sonko had received an invitation to attend the 10th session of the World Urban Forum that will commence on Saturday 8 February to Thursday 13 February.
The office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP), however, declined his request; stating they need more time to verify the authenticity of the city politician’s travel documents.
