Sauti Sol singer Willis Chimano has disclosed he is sort of an awkward man but has no apologies for that. The interesting musician whose voice can make anyone fall deeply in love with him told his fans to try living their truth unapologetically and avoid hiding who they are.
Chimano while speaking on Safaricom’s storytelling series acknowledged that his dressing is often over the top The musician added that he is his happiest when singing with his brothers while wearing the most unexpected fits. To him, that alone is like therapy and it makes him extremely proud to know that he is moving as an independent individual without being shackled by societal norms.
The Sauti Sol musician added that his decision to step out in his unique fits was born out of the need to give toxic masculinity the middle finger. “I try to challenge toxic masculinity which says a man should dress a certain way. Why does society have to tell you how to dress or how to behave? Be yourself,” he urged his fans.
Chimano added that he is an introvert who rarely likes people’s company and finds it hard to socialise with large groups.
Not too long ago, the singer was judged after he was spotted standing close to a tall mzungu man mistaken to be his partner. Sauti Sol had posted a photo of its members with their significant others and people immediately assumed Chimano was dating the man standing next to him. Instead of flying off the handle, the talented musician hit back with a clever post on Twitter. He laughed at how hot and bothered people got just from looking at a photo.
