Self-proclaimed anti-boarding activist and Sauti Sol lead singer Bien Aime Baraza has strongly condemned parents who take their kids to boarding schools at a very tender age.
Bien believes that boarding schools have partly contributed to the moral decay of the current generation of youths because parents have apparently abandoned their responsibilities in the name of sending their kids to boarding schools to brighten their future.
The singer further stated that the nasty experience he had in boarding school compelled him to be a strong anti-boarding activist. He was taken to boarding school when he was only 10 years, a move he says robbed him off the time to develop a strong relationship with his parents.
“I went to boarding school in class five when I was only 10 years old. I know often children don’t know what they want but I was pretty sure I hated being there. At the time my parents thought that boarding schools were an end goal to good results and grooming responsible citizens. Even during the holidays they left for work and came back when I was asleep. Now I am all grown up and I realise how much it robbed me of a relationship with my parents, especially my dad because I was always a mama’s boy,” said Bien.
