Kenya’s Ambassador to China Sarah Serem: Netizens want her to explain why she hasn’t offered any help to Kenyan nationals exposed to racist abuse in China
Furious citiziens on social media want Kenya’s Ambassador to China Sarah Serem immediately recalled back to the country over what they say is a constant show of incompetence which proves her incapability to handle the job.
This is after shocking news emerged that Kenyan nationals residing in the Asian country have been victim to unwarranted racial abuse amid the Coronavirus outbreak.
The profiling of black persons in the country has been on the rise due to the fact that most new cases of the the deadly virus have been linked to foreigners.
In a news report aired by a local media house on Thursday night, one female victim narrated the sad ordeal she went to go through after the hostility from the Chinese natives became too much and she had to vacate her house.
Only identified by “Brenda” for protection purposes, she explained how she has had to sleep in the streets of Beijing for days with no help whatsoever from Sarah Serem’s office.

Sarah Serem is undoubtedly the most incompetent person for the China ambassadorial post. Our own are suffering due to the neglect they are receiving from its own government.

Kenya’s Ambassador to China is Sarah Serem. She should be very ashamed of herself. Kenyans are being dehumanized in China while she does nothing. Sarah Serem doesn't even deserve to be called a Kenyan. She has betrayed her own people! #BringKenyansInChinaHome

What is the work of Kenyan ambassador to China? What is Sarah Serem doing? Did she go on holiday? This the problem of appointing fossils into public office. What is she doing? The other day we just filmed a Chinese place & their ambassador was all over issuing threats! Nkt.

If Sarah Serem and her bosses don't act on the inhumane treatment of Kenyans n other Africans in China, we will have no choice but get this Chinese littering our streets and give them a taste of their own dose. China infected the world with the virus, now they are mistreating us!

Earlier this year, the former Salaries and Remuneration Commission (SRC) Chair again faced heavy condemnation after it was understood that she was yet to offer assistance to over 100 Kenyan students who were still stuck in Hubei province, the epicentre of the illness back then.
In what seemed to be an admission that no evacuation would be sent the students’ way, she instead directed her energies towards the Most High God.
As the virus continued to spread and kill many, Serem opted to seek divine intervention, asking God to “watch over Kenyans in Wuhan” in a statement she wrote.
