Police officers were on Friday night embroiled in drama that was witnessed well into Saturday morning as hundreds of Youth blocked the road in a bid to prevent police from arresting Kapseret member of Parliament Oscar Sudi.
A number of police officers led by Uasin Gishu County Police Commandant Johnstone Ipara camped outside the MP’s compound over incitement allegations asking his lawyer Gladys Boss to persuade him to come out.
Sudi’s lawyer said it was difficult to access the legislator’s compound as it was dark, also accusing police of disconnecting power at the residence.
Police had a hectic time controlling a group of angry youth who barricaded the road leading up to Sudi’s residence.
Sudi is wanted over utterances against President Uhuru Kenyatta and his mother Mama Ngina Kenyatta. The MP posted on social media video clips in which he lectured the President and the former First Lady with remarks which were widely condemned as abusive and inciting.
President Uhuru responded to the remarks, telling those abusing his mother to leave her alone and go and abuse their own mothers.
