The family to the late have come out to express their discontent with how the operation to recover the bodies is being held. Miriam Kalekye who is a relative to the two that passed on said that the ferry management had been reluctant to help them. She revealed that they had been asked for money to facilitate transportation of an unidentified professional diver who has not showed up until this moment.
“Since yesterday up until now, there has been no action. We haven’t seen any divers at the scene. We were asked to pay for a taxi to bring a special diver to help out but so far, nothing has happened,” Ms Kalekye stated.
The sunk vehicle has been located by Kenya Ferry Services (KFS) 60 meters deep but the bodies have not been recovered because of poor infrastructure to handle the activity. KFS reported that their oxygen tasks do not go beyond 30 meters deep.
