Oscar Sudi said that a few individuals will be sacrificed to save the big fish
On Monday, August 31 2020, Kapsaret MP Oscar Sudi announced that he will today (Friday, September 4) expose the names of companies’ directors that benefited from the inflated KEMSA tenders.
However, in an interesting turn of events, Sudi failed to name the “powerful’ individuals who traded with KEMSA which led to the loss of billions of shillings in the form of overpriced products. Explaining his failure, the legislator said that he was waiting for the DCI and EACC to conclude investigations into the controversial KEMSA dealings before he can make a decision to reveal the identities of the rogue businesspeople or not.
“The president [on August 26] issued a 21-day ultimatum to the investigative agencies to complete probe into the KEMSA scandal. I am waiting for the three weeks to end. Thereafter , based on the findings and revelations by the investigative bodies . I would choose to name the rogue businessmen, or not,” he said.
However, he went on to reiterate that if the team sanctioned by President Uhuru Kenyatta fails to reveal them, he will go ahead and drop the bombshell. Sudi pointed out that the real suspects won’t be charged as only a few individuals will be sacrificed.
“If the Uhuru-sanctioned team fails to reveal the owners of these companies, then I would personally disclose their identities. These investigations won’t unravel the real thieves. I know for a fact. The real thieves are well-connected.I know they are planning to sacrifice a few individuals to save the big fish. However, if they fail to arrest some people [whom we know were deeply involved in the theft], then I shall have no other option but to give you a report which has all the names of people in the embezzlement,” Sudi added.
