The Orange Democratic Party has expressed concern over the growing allegiance of its members to Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko saying it may jeopardize the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI).
Nairobi County Assembly Minority Whip Peter Imwatok says that they have already marked the ODM MCAs allied to Sonko and that they are working on a plan to whip them to ensure that they support the BBI.
“I said earlier that Sonko was a Tanga Tanga man no one listened. He is now opposing the BBI that’s not news but to our ODM MCAs be informed that the position of the party is very clear drink BBI, eat BBI anywhere anytime. Anyone who will go contrary will be dealt with according to the party constitution,” Imwatok said.
Sonko has in the recent past openly criticized the BBI report saying that it is a report that does not address the problems of the common mwananchi.
“The BBI does not commensurate with the constitution that protects common people in Nairobi. Don’t allow your votes to be used as Toilet paper, don’t allow yourself to be used as a rubber stamp if you pass the BBI the way it is then we shall suffer. Those who want this BBI to go through were born in State House they don’t know what happens in slums,” Sonko told Kaloleni residents last weekend.
Sonko then took to Twitter where he launched an attack against President Uhuru Kenyatta describing him as a president who has no respect for the constitution.
“BBI reveals Uhuru’s dislike for the Constitution. After squandering two terms by running the economy to the ground, leaving Kenyans desperate and angry, Uhuru comes up with a paper that promises a better life,” he said.
“If your term as a Governor or any other position is coming to an END just GO home in the MIGHTY holy name of JESUS just like former retired Presidents Mwai Kibaki and the late Daniel Toroitich Arap Moi ( May his soul continue to rest in peace),” ranted Sonko.
