Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) Noordin Haji on Wedneday 21st August ordered the arrest of Keroche Industries propriator Tabitha Karanja.
Three of the companies; Cresent Vodka, Viena Ice and summit beers have been accused of not paying tax which added up to 14.45 Billion Kenyan cash. The Industry however contradicts the government saying that only Viena ice had legal issues and the case is still at the tax tribunal.
The tycoon on the other hand thinks the government is aimed at frustrating local business. She added that its not fair to have worked for 22 years and created many jobs only to be reduced to be locked in her office late to 10pm.
“I am locked in my office, imagine after working for the past 22 years, paying taxes, creating employment and what I’ve been reduced to is I cannot get out of my office to go home. They are already out here they have all surrounded my office,” she told a media personality at a popular TV station.
Tabitha added that she will not surrender to the police because no legal communication from KRA of the office of DPP has been relayed officially to confirm the claims.
