On Saturday evening, popular Kenyan blogger Robert Alai once again watched as his name found its way to the top of Twitter trends following the cyber-activist’s complaint to communications giants Safaricom over the services of one of their M-Pesa agents in Nairobi.
Through his official account on the platform, Alai accused the young agent based in South C of attempting to defraud him with the help of another customer care agent named “Elizabeth” in what is understood to have been the aftermath of a delayed M-Pesa reversal request which was made after he withdrew more cash than the agent had at hand.
Attached to the tweet was a two-minute clip of the angry blogger confronting the seemingly shaken M-Pesa shop attendants; insisting he had done everything right and blaming their laxity for the hold-up.
Hey @SafaricomPLC this agent based in South C is a conman working with one of your customer care agents called Elizabeth. Elizabeth doesn’t want to follow procedures or refer call to supervisor. I need that money reversed. pic.twitter.com/1ENWYOzBcU

The video soon began doing rounds and within no time, the replies section was full of the ever-opinionated netizens who expressed conflicting reactions on the incident.
Some strongly came to the defense of the M-Pesa agent and in turn accused the blogger of unnecessarily bullying the young man while others viewed Alai’s complaint as legitimate; urging Safaricom to pick up the matter and question the agent on why he accepted a withdrawal larger than the amount he had.
From the conversation! Alai you are bullying the agent. Stop that kind of arrogance, and be humble… Who do you think you are? https://t.co/qbO31RluAD
