Kenyan artists had a disappointing outing in the 2020 AFRIMMA awards losing in all top categories.
The event which took place at 10 pm on 15th November 2020, left all nominated artists from Kenya with zero awards. Last year, Akothee won in the Best Female East African Artist category. This year she had been nominated in the same category together with celebrated Kenyan artists Nadia Mukami and Fena Gitu but the award landed to Tanzanian musician Nandy.
Other artistes who had been nominated under different categories in Kenya and lost included; Sauti Sol, Khaligraph, Otile Brown, Enos Olik, DJ Moh Spice, Willy M Tuva among others.
On a positive note, Nadia Mukami and Akothee represented Kenya well by delivering electrifying performances with their live bands at the event. Nadia delivered her performance for her hit song ‘Lola’.
AFRIMMA is a prestigious event that features top artists from Africa and gives them recognition for their artistry.
