Following the launch of Machakos Governor Alfred Mutua’s presidential bid on Sunday 6th 2020, Kakamega Governor Wycliffe Oparanya has announced that he is shelving plans to vie for the presidency and has thrown his weight behind ODM leader Raila Odinga.
Oparanya who is serving his last term as governor asked Raila Odinga to organize him a position when he ascends to power come 2022 when he completes his term.
“I’m now leaving politics of the county to others after my term. I want to focus on national politics and urge you (Raila) to get any seat up there for me,” Oparanya said.
As the 2022 race hots up, the ODM party leader is seen as Raila’s point man in Western Kenya.
