Former WWE wrestler Jonathan Huber – better known by his stage names Brodie Lee and Luke Harper – has died. The athlete and entertainer was just 41-years-old and his family, friends and colleagues were devastated to break the news of his passing on Boxing Day. The wrestler’s devastated wife, Amanda, shared an update on Instagram where she revealed he had died of a non-covid related lung issue.
She wrote: “My best friend died today. I never wanted to write out those words. My heart is broken. The world saw him as the amazing @brodielee (fka Luke Harper) but he was my best friend, my husband, and the greatest father you would ever meet. No words can express the love I feel or how broken I am right now.”
The devastated spouse continued: “He passed surrounded by love ones after a hard fought battle with a non Covid related lung issue.”
Sharing that she had been receiving support from Jonathan’s wrestling company, she continued: “On top of that, I can’t express my love and admiration for the way @allelitewrestling has treated not only my husband but myself and my kids.”
She continued: “The team at AEW have helped keep me standing and pick up all the broken pieces. I’ve been surrounded by so much love and incredible people I can’t tag them all but they know who they are and I don’t think they will ever know how thankful I am for them.”
Huber was known as Luke Harper when he was in WWE, wrestling many of the company’s biggest names as part of the villainous Wyatt family. He left the company to join rivals AEW last year, in what was widely seen as a fresh start for his career and his work was widely praised by fans and peers alike.
AEW released a statement on Saturday confirming that the wrestler had passed away.
