The ever vocal Embakasi East Member of Parliament Babu Owino seems to be on a roll today.
On Saturday morning, he got into trouble with a section of KOT – led by Nairobi County Women Representative Esther Passaris – after he made controversial remarks aimed at his Kandara counterpart Alice Wahome after she allegedly disrespected ODM leader Raila Odinga and President Uhuru Kenyatta.
In a tweet that has sparked mixed reactions, Babu vowed to have the vocal legislator shaved clean.
“Alice Wahome must respect Baba and President Uhuru or we will shave every part of her body that has hair. This is not a threat it’s a promise,” he wrote.
Passaris, who is still recovering from a back surgery she underwent at an expensive hospital in India, quickly came to Wahome’s defense and asked Babu to pull down the tweet.
“Babu respect women. You can only shave your wife not a fellow legislator, or any other woman without their explicit consent. Any action to the contrary will be an act of defilement. I am extremely disappointed with this post. Pull it down. There’re boundaries we should not cross,” she tweeted.
Hardly before that fire died down, the former Students Organization of Nairobi University (SONU) Chairman had already started another one, this time going hard at Kenya Film Classification Board (KFCB) boss Ezekiel Mutua and accused him of “sleeping with university students everywhere”.
This was after Mutua criticised Owino’s language in his earlier statement during the day.
It's ok for politicians to differ and to exchange barbs for political mileage, but this kind of language from an MP is unacceptable. It's crude and barbaric and must not be accepted in a civilised society. Our leaders are behaving badly and setting a bad example for the youth! pic.twitter.com/JJlagf5Tit

@EzekielMutua thinks that he’s always holier than thou and knows more about moral decadence yet he sleeps with university students everywhere

Ezekiel Mutua is yet to respond to this damning allegation but netizens definitely had a lot to say. We’ve sampled a few reactions below.
