Millicent Omanga warns that Jubilee Party won’t field a presidential candidate in the forthcoming elections
The political landscape in the country keeps on changing every day after the March 9, 2018, handshake between President Uhuru Kenyatta and his then political nemesis Raila Odinga. This move has surely made things more interesting in the run-up to the 2022 general elections.
The deal between the duo was seemingly so sweet that the Jubilee party, through its secretary-general Raphael Tuju decided not to field a candidate for the upcoming Msambweni by-election due to its recent cooperation with the ODM party who are set to field their candidate too, a move which led to denunciation by a faction allied to Deputy President William Ruto.
On his part, DP Ruto stated that he did not agree with the decision but he assured that he would stand by it arguing that the party should show a united front.
“I had a different view on fielding a candidate in Msambweni but I came here and I have been briefed about the decision that has been made and I want to assure the party membership that we stand by it,” Ruto said.

Nominated senator Millicent Omanga
Among them is nominated senator and a close ally to the DP, Nominated senator Millicent Omanga who cautiously and curiously posed whether the party would also have a similar plan in 2022 and decide not to field a presidential candidate against ODM’s aspirant, thus locking out Ruto.
” Wangwana, now that the bromance between Raila and President Uhuru behooves them not to field candidates against each other should we be prepared for a scenario where @JubileePartyK will not field a presidential candidate against @TheODMparty‘s candidate in 2022?” Omanga warned.
