Didmus Barasa is a loyal Wiliam Ruto supporter
A loyal Deputy President William Ruto supporter, Didmus Barasa has found himself in trouble after he was accused by Uwezo Microfinance Bank of selling the Toyota Hiace car registered as KBX 734E without consent.
The Kimilili MP was arraigned in a Kajiado court early today and charged with fraudulently selling a Ksh 450,000 mortgaged car. However, Didmus Barasa denied the charges and was released on a Ksh 100,000 bail.
“Didmus Barasa Mutua: On March 10, 2017, at Kitengela township in Isinya sub-county within Kajiado county, being a mortgaged of motor vehicle registration number KBX 134E, make Toyota Hiace, mortgaged goods with intent to defraud Uwezo Microfinance Bank without its consent as the mortgagee,” the police report read.
The Kimilili legislator had gone to court to seek an anticipatory bail to prevent his arrest over the sale of the public service vehicle to businessman John Irungu Mwangi.
Through his lawyer John Khaminwa, he said the purchase of the car was done through an intermediary on a willing seller, willing buyer basis. He alleged the charges were initiated due to his decision to support DP Ruto on his 2022 presidential bid.
