Gospel singer Gloria Muliro has revealed she often prays for Willy Paul because she does not approve of some of the music videos he makes since his controversial switch to secular.
Speaking at a local radio station for the first time since Willy Paul quit gospel music, Muliro said she has been praying and hoping the young Willy Paul “finds himself” before it is late.
The songbird who has been missing in action for a while now said that despite everything, she still loves Willy Paul as a person and so does God.
“Kama mama mzazi nampenda na bado namwombea… Do I love him as a person? Yes. Na Mungu anampenda? Yes!”
Willy Paul, who first came into the limelight through the well-received hit track “Sitolia” featuring Muliro in 2014, has continued to release more songs over the years but many now say he has lost the way.
But over multiple occasions, he has insisted that his purpose is solely to entertain.
“What God has put in me is beyond talent. I am a creative artist. One day I could wake up and record a love song, the other a worship song. Who says I quit gospel for secular? At the end of the day, the same God who blesses Wizkid and Davido [secular artistes] is the same one who blesses gospel artists.” he has been quoted as saying.
In the recent interview, Muliro said she would work with Willy Paul again but they would first have to hold a talk to correct his error.
“As a mother, I love Willy Paul because every parent has different children. I pray for him but I don’t agree with the music that he does,” she added.
