Machakos Governor Alfred Mutua is in the hot seat over his recent sentiments about the new COVID-19 guidelines. Speaking during an interview with Citizen TV on Thursday ( 5th October), Mutua urged President Uhuru Kenyatta to consider involving the military in enforcing the guidelines in the country if the police fail to implement them.
The former government spokesman singled out the directive on the new operating hours for bars across the country. He argued that some bars especially in areas such as Buruburu, Kayole among others may not adhere to the set guidelines, thus the need for military intervention.
“If the police are not able to enforce the measures let the President roll out the military. Let the military go bar to bar and shut them down. At the end of the day, people are dying and we have to be a country of discipline,” Mutua said.

Mutua was met with plenty of criticism with netizens arguing that it’s unbefitting to involve the military in such operations. During yesterday’s President Uhuru’s address, he directed that all bars and restaurants allowed to operate should be closed to the public by 9 PM.
He added that all hotels, restaurants, eateries, and alcohol selling establishments should stick to the Covid-19 guidelines in accordance with the ministry of health.
Peep some reactions below and let us know what you think ;
The fool that wants to be your president thinks the military should be closing bars.
While saying this, he was actually picking prostitutes from bars in Mombasa last weekend.
This guy is just absurd. https://t.co/zF8KKLV7RU

Governor Mutua should stop lecturing the President to deploy military to shut bars! He should be reminded the work of the military is to protect our borders not to meddle in internal affairs of the country. Does he still want to be president?

Alcohol and drunkenness are not a threat to kenyan territory to warrant deployment of military.
Aa a Matter of fact water is a vital ingredient in beer which is very healthy to people of Machakos that governor Mutua represents.
