A secret love affair between a widow and a 60-year-old matatu driver ended tragically after the man was found dead in the woman’s house today morning.
The incident, which happened at Aringo Estate in Siaya left the residents speechless as they stood there, just staring at the corpse that lay naked on bed.
According to the neighbours, the deceased was a driver of a Probox matatu that operates Siaya – Nyadorera route and was suspected to be having an affair with the widow having been spotted on numerous occasions sneaking in and out of the woman’s house.
Siaya township location chief, Romlus Okoth said the elderly man, whom he identified as Joseph Osenu Ogutu, had been left alone in the house still asleep when the widow left to attend a few errands at Siaya Municipal Market where she works as a sweeper with the county government.
When the widow came back a few hours later just before noon she realized that her secret lover had passed on in bed.
Siaya Sub County Police Commander, Justus Kuche confirmed the incident and said the body had been moved to the county referral hospital mortuary where a post mortem will be conducted to identify the cause of death.
The police boss also noted that the widow was arrested as police launch investigations into the incident.
